What to Expect Now that Your Baby is Turning One Year Old?
As ypur beautiful little baby starts to approach his developmental milestones, many parents worry about whether he is doing things at the right time, or in the right order.
New parents especially, can get very anxious about their baby's development and wonder whether he is doing it 'right'. But don't forget that each little baby is a unique individual and each will learn and grow in their own way. So these developmental achievements are meant as guides only. Every baby is different with different talents and abilities and will do things in their own time.
So, what do you think of that little pink bundle now? Do you remember a year ago when you held his little snoozing body in your arms? He/She is very different now! they are very curious about everything, and excited to discover new things.
Babies First Steps
They may have been crawling around for some time, but he/she will now begin to take the first steps around his space and beyond. Especially if he has older siblings running around them, he/she will be very keen to rush out and join them, so keep a camera or camcorder ready or you might miss it! Just as each baby crawls in different ways ' some shuffle on their bottoms, some pull themselves along using their hands ' so each baby has their own unique way of walking. Don't worry if he/she shows no signs yet, they will do it in his own time.
Baby Babbling
They may have already said his first word and may be able to understand simple words from you. But he could also be doing his own particular style of babbling. Some babies by now are speaking their own language with what seem like fully formed sentences and questions but in a complete foreign language. Encourage this as much as you can because this will eventually turn into proper sentences.
Baby Playing Games
The games he/she plays now may have changed quite a lot from before. They may love to climb things, or he/she may love to bash and bang other things and hear loud noises. Another favorite game is dropping objects to see what happens. Unfortunately, another version of this game is 'Let's drop things in the bin'. Watch those car keys!
Baby Interactions
By now, your baby may be very responsive to simple commands. He may be able to give you things, and take things from you. He will look at you and question things and will ask you for things.
Do not worry at all if your baby is doing none or only some of these. Every baby develops in their own time and these milestones are only really important to the parents. After all, we never have to put any of this stuff in our resumes! Take it easy, enjoy the time you have together. Oh, and keep that camera ready!.
